ASAIO 2026 | Platform-Based Life Support Solutions Presented at ASAIO 2026

From June 17 to 20, 2026, the ASAIO Annual Conference 2026 was held in Florida, USA. ASAIO (American Society for Artificial Internal Organs) is a leading academic organization in artificial organs and mechanical circulatory support (MCS), with a long-standing focus on cardiac and pulmonary support systems, artificial organs, and critical care technologies.

magAssist presented its platform-based life support solutions and original research at the conference through scientific presentations, academic discussions, and exhibition activities, covering recent progress in clinical application, engineering development, and system integration in mechanical circulatory support.

Clinical and Engineering Discussions The magAssist exhibition booth brought together clinicians, researchers, and industry partners from North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific regions.

Discussions focused on three systems:

• NyokAssist® percutaneous ventricular assist device

• MoyoAssist® extracorporeal ventricular assist device

• BreathMo® ECMO platform

Topics included platform-based system architecture and multi-scenario applications across interventional cardiology, cardiac surgery, and intensive care.

Clinical Evidence Presented

SAVE-PCI Study (Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University)

The SAVE-PCI prospective randomized controlled trial was presented at the conference.

This multicenter study included 236 patients undergoing high-risk percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) across 11 centers. Patients were randomized 1:1 to receive either NyokAssist® or intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) support.

Key findings:

• 30-day MACCE-free rate: 93.1% in both groups

• Non-inferiority endpoint achieved

• No major vascular complications or device-related serious adverse events observed

The study provides clinical evidence supporting the use of NyokAssist® in high-risk PCI and contributes to the clinical evidence base for percutaneous ventricular assist devices.

Platform Strategy: Integrated Life Support System

In the Industry Updates session, magAssist founder Po-Lin Hsu presented the company’s platform strategy for mechanical circulatory support.

The system is built on a unified control architecture that enables modular integration of support components. This allows continuous life support across catheterization laboratories, operating rooms, and intensive care units, supporting patients across different stages of treatment.

The current product pipeline includes:

• NyokAssist®

A 9Fr collapsible percutaneous ventricular assist device intended for short-term circulatory support in high-risk PCI. It has received FDA Breakthrough Device designation.

• MoyoAssist®

A fully magnetically levitated extracorporeal ventricular assist device providing short- to mid-term circulatory support. It is approved for cardiogenic shock.

• BreathMo® ECMO

An ECMO platform based on a unified magnetically levitated pump system, supporting both cardiac and pulmonary assistance.

The platform is designed to expand toward additional organ perfusion applications, forming an integrated multi-organ life support system based on a unified hardware and control architecture.

Digital Twin and Intelligent Systems

In the biomedical engineering session, I-Fan Yen presented work on digital twin-based circulatory modeling and a unified GUI interaction system.

These approaches enable simulation-based optimization of support parameters and support standardized workflows across ECMO, ventricular assist devices, and combined support scenarios.
